Taking a Different Form
digital map, video (5:40), cloth flags, digital photograph
With the Bicycle Cellar’s cooperation (a bike co-op in Tempe, AZ), members were profiled on their biking routes, concept of time, philosophy of movement and health issues. The bike routes were compiled into a map and the sound from the member interviews was used to create a video exploring the experience of independence, endurance and duration. This video was displayed at the ASU Art Museum and projected at the Bicycle Cellar alongside a print of the map where other members were invited to draw their own routes.
Throughout the duration of the “Open for Business” exhibit, I also biked some of the member’s routes, posting custom flags that draws attention to the presence of cyclists.
Created as part of the ASU Art Museum's exhibit Open for Business (Tempe, AZ)
September 2010 through January 2011.
